VALUE-ADDED WORK AFTER MOLDING

Secondary Operations and Plastic Part Assembly

Molded parts may need trimming, marking, decoration, joining, installed hardware, functional checking or customer-specific packaging before shipment. CKMOLD can provide selected operations directly and manage others through qualified partners, with the sourcing route stated in the quotation.

The final quality gate follows the last value-added operation. A part approved immediately after molding can still be damaged, contaminated, misassembled or visually changed by printing, painting, welding or packing.

  • In-house and qualified partner work identified clearly
  • Golden samples and tests approved by operation
  • Final release occurs after assembly and packaging

Route

In-house versus partner support disclosed

Sample

Appearance or function approved before volume work

Fixture

AVAILABLE OPERATIONS

Operations Quoted Only After the Part and Acceptance Basis Are Reviewed

Trimming and De-Gating

Remove gates, runner vestige or controlled flash without damaging cosmetic, sealing or assembly surfaces.

Pad Printing / Silk Screening

Apply text, marks or graphics using approved artwork, color and adhesion/rub test; route confirmed as in-house or partner support.

Laser Marking

Mark IDs, symbols or traceability where the exact resin/color and required contrast allow a validated process.

Painting

Decorative or functional coating with masking, surface preparation, color/gloss reference and adhesion expectations defined; normally managed by project-specific route.

Ultrasonic Welding

Join compatible molded components with energy directors, support and a defined weld/function test; equipment/fixture route confirmed per part.

Heat Staking

Form plastic posts to retain components using controlled geometry, support, temperature/time/force and assembly verification.

Insert Installation

Press, heat or ultrasonically install hardware after molding when in-mold insertion is not the best route.

Simple Assembly

Combine molded and supplied components with controlled orientation, torque/engagement, visual checks and approved work instructions.

Functional Checking

Perform a project-defined assembly, fit, leak, electrical continuity, movement or other check using an approved method.

Custom Packaging

Use bags, trays, dividers, labels, cartons or protective films that preserve appearance, quantity and traceability through shipment.

SOURCING TRANSPARENCY

In-House Work and Qualified Partner Support Are Different Claims

CKMOLD-Controlled In-House Work

Operations confirmed against current equipment, staffing, fixtures and quality plan can be completed within CKMOLD’s own workflow.

  • Exact capability confirmed per part
  • Work instruction and inspection owned by CKMOLD
  • No unsupported equipment list published

Qualified Partner Support

Specialized decoration, coating or testing may be sourced from an approved partner. CKMOLD manages the defined supplier, samples, transport and final acceptance according to scope.

  • Partner route stated in quotation
  • Golden sample/test basis approved
  • Final incoming/release inspection remains visible
SURFACE AND FINISH CONTROL

Decoration Depends on Resin, Surface Energy and Handling

Ink, paint, laser or adhesive performance depends on the exact resin, additives, texture, contamination, mold release, surface preparation and service environment. PP and PE may require treatment or a different marking strategy because of low surface energy; a successful trial on one grade does not qualify every equivalent.

CKMOLD uses approved artwork, color/gloss reference, masked areas and a project-defined adhesion, rub, chemical or appearance check. Parts are protected between molding, partner processing, inspection and packing to prevent a good finish from being damaged by handling.

  • Exact resin/color and finish route
  • Approved artwork and golden sample
  • Surface preparation and masking
  • Post-operation appearance and adhesion checks
ASSEMBLY RELEASE

Build the Operation Around a Controlled Reference

01

Define Inputs

Release molded and purchased-part revisions, supplier requirements, artwork, hardware and packaging materials.

02

Develop Method

Set fixture, orientation, force/torque/energy, protection, mistake-proofing and operator safety.

03

Approve Samples

Create golden samples and agree appearance, adhesion, weld, stake, assembly or function tests.

04

Run and Inspect

Control counts, lot identity, in-process checks and partner handoff; contain nonconforming work.

05

Final Release

Inspect after the last operation, package to preserve the result and ship with agreed labels/records.

Secondary Operation and Assembly Questions

Capability is confirmed per project. CKMOLD states in the quotation which operations are performed directly and which are managed through qualified partners; this page does not claim ownership of every printing, painting, welding or test machine.

Potentially, when the customer provides an approved specification, supplier requirement and ownership/compliance responsibility. Purchased components, incoming checks, substitutions and traceability are defined in scope.

Use approved artwork, a physical color/gloss reference where possible, the exact resin/base color and sample conditioning. Lighting and measurement/test method should be agreed for appearance-critical work.

Tests follow the part function: visual, fit, torque, pull, weld, movement, leak, continuity or a customer fixture/procedure. CKMOLD does not invent a universal test for all assemblies.

Yes after the packaging design, quantities, labels, protection, pallet/carton and destination are known. Partner operations and packaging should be quoted with the molded part to avoid hidden handoff costs.
